Safety and Health extends beyond our plants and into the neighborhoods around them. Our teams volunteer with the Greater Chicago Food Depository and Gleaners Food Bank, helping prepare and distribute meals for families across the region. We join local Breast Cancer walks, participate in the Happy Heart Health Fair, and support the Heart Happy Salad Bar initiative, because healthy communities start with people who show up for each other.
Our value of Sustainable Legacy gets put into action when we participate in Earth Day clean-ups, community beautification projects, and maintain a butterfly garden that supports local pollinator habitat. These are small efforts with a long view, which is exactly the point.
We support veterans at the Manteno Veterans Run and contribute to school supply initiatives that help students start the year ready to learn. And every year, the Manteno Quarry hosts a K9 dog training event, welcoming more than 120 dogs and their handlers from dozens of law enforcement agencies across the country. It is one of the more unexpected things that happens on a quarry site, and one of the things our teams are most proud of.
We are also a proud partner of Habitat for Humanity, sending volunteers to BUILD days where every day skills, from framing and drywall to inspections, go toward safe, affordable housing for families in need.
