Since 1948, Prairie Materials has grown\u00a0alongside the communities we operate in. This growth has always carried a responsibility. Our VC Way reflects a shared belief that each of us has a role in supporting the people, environments, and places where we operate. We sponsor organizations like the Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers, the Jackson Center for Conductive Education, and Friends of the Chicago River, focusing on causes rooted in education, environmental stewardship, and human development. These investments reflect Learn and Evolve in practice: strong communities, like strong companies, require ongoing commitment and a willingness to grow.<\/p>

Our teams show up for their communities the same way they show up on the jobsite: with purpose, consistency, and a genuine investment in the outcome.<\/p>

Safety and Health extends beyond our plants and into the neighborhoods around them. Our teams volunteer with the Greater Chicago Food Depository and Gleaners Food Bank, helping prepare and distribute meals for families across the region. We join local Breast Cancer walks, participate in the Happy Heart Health Fair, and support the Heart Happy Salad Bar initiative, because healthy communities start with people who show up for each other.<\/p>

Our value of Sustainable Legacy gets put into action when we participate in Earth Day clean-ups, community beautification projects, and maintain a butterfly garden that supports local pollinator habitat. These are small efforts with a long view, which is exactly the point.<\/p>

We support veterans at the Manteno Veterans Run and contribute to\u00a0school supply initiatives that help students start the year ready to learn. And every year, the Manteno Quarry hosts a K9 dog training event, welcoming more than 120 dogs and their handlers from dozens of law enforcement agencies across the country. It is one of the more unexpected things that happens on a quarry site, and one of the things our teams are most proud of.<\/p>

We are also a proud partner of Habitat for Humanity, sending volunteers to BUILD days where every day skills, from framing and drywall to inspections, go toward safe, affordable housing for families in need.<\/p>

Throughout the year, our teams take part in local traditions, civic events, and community organizations that matter to the families around our plants and quarries.
