Safety in the concrete industry is part of how Prairie Materials operates every day. Across all locations, our team follows consistent protocols on every job, from plant operations and aggregate processing to our delivery trucks running across the region.
As part of Votorantim Cimentos North America, Prairie Materials operates within a shared set of values and principles known as Our VC Way. Safety and Health sit at the core of how the company works.
Every Prairie Materials employee, whether running a ready-mix plant, operating equipment at an aggregate yard, or delivering concrete to an urban job site, plays a role in maintaining safe working conditions. Our teams are trained to identify risks early, communicate clearly, and stop work when something is not right. Personal accountability is not an expectation imposed from the top down. It is part of how we show up every day.
This shared approach remains consistent from one location to the next, giving customers and project partners the confidence that comes from working with a team that takes its responsibilities seriously.
Our procedures change by location and task, but our Safety and Health standards remain the same, no matter what. At the plants, this means calibrated equipment, controlled material handling, and teams trained to flag hazards before they become incidents. On the road, this means delivery drivers operating under standards that account for urban job sites, highway conditions, and everything in between. On the job site, it means showing up with documentation, clear communication, and a team that knows how to work alongside other crews safely. For contractors and project partners, this consistency has a practical value. Fewer site disruptions, more predictable working conditions, and a supplier whose standards hold. Safety built into operations is not just a Prairie Materials commitment. It is part of what makes our partnerships reliable.

A strong safety culture depends on people, not just procedures. Prairie Materials invests consistently in training and development that prepares the team to perform safely and to hold themselves and each other accountable.
We participate in regular safety training and refreshers, hazard identification programs, incident review and prevention planning, and cross-team knowledge sharing across the Prairie Materials and VCNA networks.
VCNA holds an annual Safety Leadership Conference that brings together leadership and employees, with outside specialists, to reinforce safety as a core value and to maintain Open Dialogue about what is working and what needs to change.
Acting with Ownership means that accountability is not limited to the people on the payroll. The VCNA Ethics Line gives anyone, employee or not, the ability to report an unsafe condition anonymously. If something does not look right, there is always a way to say so. This kind of transparency is not incidental to a strong safety culture. It is part of what makes one possible.
Accountability is also supported year-round through the VCNA Mobile Wellness Clinic. The clinic provides biometric screenings, vaccinations, and mental health resources to Prairie Materials employees and their families. In 2025, the clinic served 455 employees, an 11.8 percent increase over the prior year.
Our commitment to safety in the concrete industry does not stop at the plant gate or the job site perimeter. Safe operations protect the people working alongside crews, the communities near every facility, and the timelines customers depend on. Prairie Materials maintains and adheres to rigorous safety standards across every operation. The result is fewer job site disruptions, safer public environments, and long-term partnerships grounded in reliability.
Prairie Materials aligns operations with recognized industry regulations and internal performance benchmarks. Documentation, site inspections, and reporting processes provide transparency and accountability across every ready-mix and aggregate operation.
Safety Data Sheets for Prairie concrete and aggregate products are available to customers, contractors, and project teams on request. The VCNA Global Safety and Health Policy establishes clear performance expectations across every facility and every level of the business.
Hutton Transport has long supported a wide range of activities through our sponsorships, including young athletes and tournaments, aiming to inspire and enrich the community in which we live, work and play. We try to make a real difference in the lives of others and a lasting impact in our community, by supporting programs that inspire and enable sports participation. Our goal is the same, whatever sponsorship we are involved in: to connect with the passions of our local community.

Sponsorship is all about understanding our community and neighbours, customers and employees, understanding what they are passionate about and determining the best way to associate our brand with their passions. Sponsoring sports activities can be a fun, exciting venture for a company.
We pride ourselves in being a great corporate citizen, business responsibility focused, and our commitment and support reflects our values, has a positive impact on the multi-cultural, diverse communities we serve and, ultimately, helps build our business. We want to help provide a meaningful academic and athletic experience for youths, for student-athletes that play, the students that cheer and the community that attends the sporting events. We give students a chance to develop important skills by supporting sports programs and believe that fair play, team spirit, success driven by the readiness to perform at the very highest levels, are but a few of the values shared by Hutton Transport Company. We believe that people who take part in sports understand the importance of building healthy relationships and are better citizens of the world.
